POSITION DESCRIPTION 

POSITION: DIRECTOR OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION 

PURPOSE: To develop, plan, organize and implement all educational programs for youth, children, families, and adults with near-term emphasis in youth. 

REQUIREMENTS: Experience in the development, planning, organizing and implementation of Christian education programs. Incumbent has a strong Christian faith and Bible knowledge through education and experience. Experience recruiting and working with volunteers. Sunday mornings and evenings are required workdays. Additional evenings or occasional weekends and youth trips may also be required. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Christian Education is responsible for working with the Christian Education Team and pastor to organize and resource education programs for adults, families, children, and youth. This includes direct leadership and participation in the youth program and oversight of the Children’s program (presently staffed with a part-time leader). 

1. Coordinate education and special programming with the Christian Education Team.  

2. Develop and oversee a progressive and comprehensive program of Christian growth and learning. Acquires and adapts curriculum materials for most Sunday morning classes. 

3. Recruit, train, and support teachers along with children’s and youth volunteers. 

4. Develop church-wide education programs that integrate key teachings across demographic groups. 

5. Direct and oversee the youth Sponsors to organize and deliver youth activities and programs. Recruit and resource children and youth summer programming. 

6. Direct and manage Children’s Ministry Coordinator. 

7. Support youth fundraising activities. 

8. Coordinate and travel with youth on spring break mission trip and support the Celebration Choir and their trip. 

9. Work alongside Pastor in teaching of the youth confirmation classes. 

10. Schedule and chair meetings of the Christian Education Team. 

11. Develop the Christian Education budget and follow the budgetary guidelines set by Session. 

12. Attend Christian Life Fellowship. 

13. Work with other staff members and volunteers to update communications and websites. Ensure church communication channels are aligned, including social media.

  • Others as desired by Pastor.

Job Type: Full-time 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
