Student & Worship Director — Job Description

Position Focus: 80% Student Ministry / 20% Worship Ministry

Reports To: Lead Pastor

Position Type: Full-Time, Salaried

Overview

The Student & Worship Director provides spiritual leadership and oversight for the church’s Student Ministry (grades 7–12) while also leading the Worship Ministry. The role emphasizes discipling students, equipping volunteers, and fostering Christ-centered worship. While we are seeking a Student & Worship Director, the emphasis of the position is on Student Ministry. We are open to candidates serving solely as a Student Ministry Director.

Student Ministry Responsibilities (80%)

• Develop and implement a gospel-centered vision aligned with New Life’s mission, vision, and values.

• Teach biblically faithful, age-appropriate messages.

• Lead weekly youth gatherings, small groups, retreats, camps, and outreach events.

• Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer leaders.

• Build relationships with students and partner with parents.

• Provide pastoral care to students and their families.

• Manage the Student Ministry budget.

• Integrate students into the life of the church.

• Collaborate with Children’s Ministry Director and other church staff.

Worship Ministry Responsibilities (20%)

• Assist in planning and leading weekly worship services in partnership with Lead Pastor.

• Recruit, equip and develop the worship team.

• Lead worship rehearsals, ensuring team members are resourced appropriately.

• Select songs that are engaging and biblically faithful.

Qualifications

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with the church’s statement of faith.

• Must have experience in Student Ministry. Qualified applicants can submit video of

themselves leading worship.

• Strong teaching, relational, and organizational skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in ministry or related field preferred.

Personal Attributes

• Must be a born-again believer and follower of Jesus Christ.

• Must possess sound beliefs and doctrine, moral character beyond reproach, and godliness in conduct.

• Must be teachable and willing to receive feedback.

• Committed to being a fully engaged member at New Life Church.

Founded in 1975, New Life Church is a non-denominational church located between Harrisburg and York, Pennsylvania. Today, we have 220 people who join us for worship every Sunday, with committed ministries for kids, students and adults throughout the week. New Life Church successfully underwent a Pastoral succession of the founding Pastor this past Fall.
