Student Ministry Director

The Student Ministry Director at Malibu Pacific Church is responsible for leading a vibrant, Jesus-centered ministry for middle school and high school students. This role exists to inspire students to explore faith, take meaningful steps with Jesus, and develop a faith that prepares them for life. Reporting to the Pastor of Discipleship, the Student Ministry Director provides vision, leadership, and care for student environments(middle school and high school), volunteers, and outreach efforts, ensuring that every gathering is welcoming, engaging, and spiritually intentional. This position requires both relational presence and strategic leadership, with a strong emphasis on building trust with students, partnering with parents, and cultivating a ministry culture that reflects the heart and mission of Malibu Pacific Church.

Character and Cultural Qualities

The ideal candidate is a spiritually mature, relationally driven leader who loves God wholeheartedly and lives out their faith with integrity both inside and outside the church. They are passionate about making disciples, especially among students who may be exploring faith for the first time, and are deeply committed to loving people well. This leader brings energy, creativity, and flexibility to ministry, balancing fun and excellence with depth and intentionality. They are organized, communicative, and comfortable leading in public settings, while also prioritizing one-on-one investment and authentic relationships. Above all, they embody the values of Malibu Pacific Church—grounded in integrity, fueled by compassion, and motivated by a genuine desire to see students grow into lifelong followers of Jesus.

What It’s Like to Work at Malibu Pacific

Working at Malibu Pacific Church feels like stepping into a mission that is purposeful, outward-focused, and deeply people-centered.

It is a place where everybody and every story is more than a statement—it is a lived value. The team shares a strong conviction that the Church exists for those who are not yet connected, and that conviction shapes everything from how Sundays are prepared to how staff collaborate throughout the week. Sunday is intentionally designed with the guest in mind: welcoming, excellent, thoughtful, and spiritually intentional. The guiding question behind the work is consistently, “How will this help someone take a next step toward Jesus?”

The setting is both inspiring and grounding. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean and situated within a distinct coastal context, the environment encourages clarity, presence, and authenticity. The culture reflects a belief that faith can be both reverent and accessible—rooted in truth, marked by hope, and expressed with humility. This perspective carries into the staff culture as well, which is relational, collaborative, and mission-driven rather than transactional or programmatic.

Working here means holding a deep commitment to what happens beyond Sunday, not just what happens on the platform. The heartbeat of the church is connection—helping people connect to God and connect meaningfully with one another. Team members are encouraged to think strategically, lead with compassion, and trust the steady, transformative work God does through intentional steps of faith.

At its core, Malibu Pacific Church is a church with a clear vision and a compassionate heart: passionate about Jesus, deeply committed to the people of Los Angeles, and convinced that no one is too far, too broken, or too overlooked to be part of God’s story. Working here feels like joining a unified team on mission—anchored in purpose, guided by faith, and consistently oriented toward serving others.
