Position Title: Youth Director
Reports to: Head of Staff (Lead Pastor)
Status: Part-Time (20 hours/week – salaried)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Effective Date: October 1, 2025
Position Summary
● The Youth Director partners with the Lead Pastor and staff to support the mission of Threshold Church, which is “Bearing Witness to the beauty of Christ for the glory of God and the good of the world”.
● Leads Middle and High School students toward a growing knowledge of and relationship with God in Jesus Christ.
● Displays an active faith in Jesus before the students, which is the product of a deep love and relationship with God in Jesus Christ.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Prepare and lead weekly meeting with students
● Teach students the core tenants of the Christian faith
● Minister to students and families as the director’s flock
● Engage students and their families on Sunday morning
● Build a relational ministry throughout the week e.g. attending student’s sporting events and performances and arranging meetings to foster connection beyond Sunday mornings
● Recruit and train adult volunteers to lead and support the students
● Manage weekly communication with parents (e.g. email, calls, texts)
● Schedule quarterly off-site fun event
● Schedule two retreats annually
● Ensure that the Child Safety and Protection guidelines are followed by all youth ministry volunteers. Ensure that the Youth Director and all youth ministry volunteers will have a yearly background check and in-service education conducted by Protect My Ministry
● Partner with the Director of Children’s Ministry to provide a seamless transition from children’s ministry to youth ministry. Accomplish this with a program of milestones in the student’s faith journey
● Attend weekly staff meeting and respond promptly to communication from Head of Staff, staff members, students and families
Minimum Qualifications
● Strong leadership and organizational skills
● Good theological and biblical knowledge from a reformed perspective in line with the EPC Essentials
● Ability to relate to middle school and high school students and parents
● Ability to build a team of adult volunteers to actively provide leadership support for youth ministry
● Ability to communicate with parents about the ministry
● Ability to work with Threshold leadership to develop a youth budget.
